Heidi is a non-Indigenous ally who is passionate about supporting Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients using a holistic, client-centred approach that seeks to empower individuals to recognize their strengths and values, heal mental and emotional wounds, and promote growth, resilience and change.

Heidi is a Registered Psychologist in the provinces of Alberta and Newfoundland & Labrador. After completing her Masters degree in Counselling Psychology, Heidi’s practice has focused on clinical psychology, formal assessment and educational psychology. She has dedicated a large portion of her career to learning about and supporting Indigenous populations and has developed a deep respect and appreciation for the cultural values, traditions and practices of the different Indigenous communities she has been involved with both professionally and personally.

Heidi’s experience includes the treatment of a wide range of complex mental health issues including anxiety and mood disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma and stress-related issues, substance use, addiction and grief and loss.

Areas of Practice: Some of the modalities that contribute to Heidi’s eclectic therapeutic approach include Narrative Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. Heidi also pulls from theories such as Motivational Interviewing and Solution-Focused Therapy to initiate change and provide rapid symptom relief.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We recognize that the land on which we gather is part of Turtle Island, situated within the territories of Treaties Four, Six, Seven, and Eight. This land has long been a sacred gathering place for many nations, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika—alongside the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney-Nakoda, Tsuu T'ina Nation, and the Métis Peoples who call this region home. The deep connection that the First Peoples have to this land teaches us our shared responsibility to protect and honor Mother Earth. Through this acknowledgment, we pay tribute to the ancestors, the children, and all those who rest here, as well as the missing and murdered Indigenous women and men. We recognize the ongoing journey of collective healing for all of humanity. We are reminded that all treaty people have a duty to one another. We stand in solidarity with those beside us, those forgotten, and those lost. We connect with Mother Earth for healing, guidance, and the teachings she offers.
