My Story

Tansi, my name is Hailey and I am a Master of Counselling intern with Indigenous Psychological Services.

I have a true passion for being a helper and align my counselling practice with my personal values; being open to new perspectives, reciprocal in all my relations, and non-judgmental.

As an ever-evolving learner, I honour cultural humility in my practice. I honour this by welcoming a fresh beginning with each client and actively learning to understand what shapes them to be unique; in efforts to create a therapeutic process that is authentic to the individual and beneficial for growth.

I identify as a Cree Indigenous woman (she/her) and my roots come from the Lac La Ronge Indian Band (Treaty 6). Growing up in what I describe as walking between two worlds - I recognize with gratitude the opportunities I’ve had with both on- and -off reserve experiences, education, and international solo travel that has deepened my lived-experience and humility to the varied paths, cultures, and practices of life. My personality can be described as a balance of energies, being warm, gentle, creative, compassionate or strong, infinite, and optimistic - I’m willing to meet each of my clients where they’re at!

I believe every being is pure in essence and it is life’s impressions that can change them. This holistic approach will aim to identify root causes by integrating traditional medicine wheel teachings, trauma-focused therapy, EMDR, yoga, breath work, and visualization meditation.

Trainings & Certifications: EMDR Training, Indigenous Awareness Training, Polyvagal Theory in Trauma Treatment, Suicide Assessment and Prevention Training, RYT 200-hour yoga teacher training, Bachelor of Psychology Degree (Mount Royal University), and Master of Counselling Program (City University in Canada)

Treetops
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional territories of Treaties 4, 6, 7, and 8 on Turtle Island—ancestral land of many Nations, including the Blackfoot Confederacy (Kainai, Piikani, Siksika), Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney-Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina, and the Métis Peoples.

We honour the deep connection of these Nations to the land, and our shared responsibility to protect and respect Mother Earth. We pay tribute to the ancestors, the children, the missing and murdered Indigenous women and men, and all those who rest here.

We recognize the ongoing journey of healing and the shared duty of all treaty people. We stand in solidarity with those present, forgotten, and lost, and seek guidance and wisdom from the land.
