My Story

My name is Alana and I am an Indigenous Canadian Certified Counsellor. My passion is
working with Indigenous and other BIPOC communities, along with children and youth. My
goal is to provide Indigenous populations with psychological healing that is based in Indigenous
knowledge and aims to target colonial trauma. My methods are holistic and have foundations in
the Medicine Wheel and Two-Eyed Seeing where I bring a mix of Western evidence-based
practices combined with traditional Indigenous teachings and cultural practices.
My current focus is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), EMDR, and Emotionally Focused
Family Therapy (EFFT) with attachment-based theories.
I have completed training and workshops that focus on trauma-informed therapies, EMDR,
Indigenous Awareness training, and Indigenous Allyship training.

Areas of Practice: Individuals, youth, and families. General mental health counselling and can
include trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, and stress-related
issues.

Trainings/Certification: Masters in Counselling Psychology, Virtual EMDR, EMDR,

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We recognize that the land on which we gather is part of Turtle Island, situated within the territories of Treaties Four, Six, Seven, and Eight. This land has long been a sacred gathering place for many nations, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika—alongside the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney-Nakoda, Tsuu T'ina Nation, and the Métis Peoples who call this region home.

The deep connection that the First Peoples have to this land teaches us our shared responsibility to protect and honor Mother Earth. Through this acknowledgment, we pay tribute to the ancestors, the children, and all those who rest here, as well as the missing and murdered Indigenous women and men.

We recognize the ongoing journey of collective healing for all of humanity.

We are reminded that all treaty people have a duty to one another.

We stand in solidarity with those beside us, those forgotten, and those lost.

We connect with Mother Earth for healing, guidance, and the teachings she offers.
