My Story

My name is Sarah and I am a registered psychologist with Indigenous Psychological Services. I have over a decade of experience supporting individuals through trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and relationship concerns. I have had the privilege of walking alongside Indigenous youth, adults, and communities on their journeys, and I strive to provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed care that honors both lived experience and traditional ways of knowing.

I identity as a Métis woman (she/her), and my own roots inform how I show up in this work. My maternal lineage came from St. Boniface, Treaty 1 territory, to Amiskwaciwâskahikan (Edmonton) where I now live with my family. From this, I carry and appreciation for the intergenerational stories that shape each of our experiences. I have learned the most from being welcomed into Indigenous-focused educational and community settings, traditional healing spaces, and by being invited to participate in land-based teachings from Elders and knowledge keepers.

My approach is grounded in attachment theory, somatic and mindfulness-based Hakomi therapy, and a strong commitment to relational safety. I aim to create a compassionate and respectful space where clients feel seen, supported, and empowered in their healing journey.

Trainings & Certificates: Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Indigenous Awareness Training, Polyvagal Theory in Trauma Treatment, Suicide Assessment and Prevention Training (ASSIST), Master of Counselling (MC), Certified Hakomi Therapist, Attachment Therapy Training, Training in Decolonizing & Indigenizing Psychological practice, Somatic Experiencing (level 2), & Ecotherapy certification.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional territories of Treaties 4, 6, 7, and 8 on Turtle Island—ancestral land of many Nations, including the Blackfoot Confederacy (Kainai, Piikani, Siksika), Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney-Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina, and the Métis Peoples.

We honour the deep connection of these Nations to the land, and our shared responsibility to protect and respect Mother Earth.

We pay tribute to the ancestors, the children, the missing and murdered Indigenous women and men, and all those who rest here.

We recognize the ongoing journey of healing and the shared duty of all treaty people. We stand in solidarity with those present, forgotten, and lost, and seek guidance and wisdom from the land.
