My Story

Tan'si! My name is Michelle. Health and wellness has been an area of passion of mine for over 15 years, from working as a fitness instructor (yoga, Zumba, personal trainer, etc) and workshop facilitator with Iskwew Health to currently being an intern with the Indigenous Psychological Services team as a mental health therapist.

As a Cree woman, I integrate the Two Eyed Seeing approach in the work I do, honouring Indigenous ways of knowing alongside Western knowledge. Some areas of interest are Compassion focused therapy, Solution focused therapy, Cognitive behavioral therapy,  Dialectical behavioral therapy and Narrative therapy.

My philosophy as a helper is the belief that everyone holds their own medicine and answer. As a helper. I am here just to help shine a light on another's light in an intuitive, empathic, nonjudemental and loving way.

I am a member of Kawacatoose First Nation and is currently in her final semester of a Masters of Arts in Counselling Psychology degree.

Treetops
LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We acknowledge that we gather on the traditional territories of Treaties 4, 6, 7, and 8 on Turtle Island—ancestral land of many Nations, including the Blackfoot Confederacy (Kainai, Piikani, Siksika), Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney-Nakoda, Tsuu T’ina, and the Métis Peoples.

We honour the deep connection of these Nations to the land, and our shared responsibility to protect and respect Mother Earth.

We pay tribute to the ancestors, the children, the missing and murdered Indigenous women and men, and all those who rest here.

We recognize the ongoing journey of healing and the shared duty of all treaty people. We stand in solidarity with those present, forgotten, and lost, and seek guidance and wisdom from the land.
