Holistic/Somatic Trauma Therapist
Marcus has completed his Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology. He also completed his internship with Indigenous Psychological Services. Marcus uses a holistic/somatic approach with his clients. His studies have allowed him exposure to an array of intervention skills and techniques with focus being in the areas of somatic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy, mindfulness, and cultural diversity. Over the last 5 years, Marcus has spent time volunteering, participating, and facilitating in transformational healing work. This work focuses on overcoming life challenges, trauma, and healing in either a group or individual setting. Marcus has spent his internship at Indigenous Psychological Services. He spent time focusing on research and best practices for Indigenous counselling. Marcus also focused on embodying the teachings of the Medicine Wheel and practicing traditional holistic practices.
Marcus is is enrolled in multiple trauma informed therapies. He is currently enrolled in Somatic Experiencing Beginner Level One and Internal Families System therapies.
Marcus fundamental values include: to be seen and loved for exactly who they are. He strives to support individuals in facilitating their journey so that they may move through life’s challenges with compassionate support and guidance. He believes "Each human is vastly unique, and my job is to support my clients in finding the answers they seek in life and mental health in a way that compliments their unique nature". Outside of counselling and psychology, Marcus grew up playing high level soccer with the Canadian Youth National Team, Vancouver Whitecaps Residency and with the University of Alberta. Between soccer and strength and conditioning I have over 10 years of experience working in the field of coaching and sports performance.
