Brittany Travis

Brittany is a non-Indigenous ally. She is a registered psychologist who is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology. Brittany has been working with Indigenous clients for the past thirteen years, she has provided mental health counselling to isolated northern First Nation communities in Alberta as well as First Nation communities in southern Alberta. Brittany draws from an eclectic approach to counselling and works from a client-centered approach grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.
Brittany has experience working in schools and health centres, and has provided counselling to all ages. Brittany specializes in working with young adults and youth. Brittany utilizes numerous approaches to counselling and meets the client where they are at. She loves working with children, youth, and young adults and has recently started working with elders and clients with a diagnosis of FASD.
Background/Counselling Framework Utilized: I utilize an eclectic approach to counselling. I work with my clients from a client-centered perspective creating a safe and non-judgmental environment. Depending on the client’s needs I use cognitive behavioural strategies, solution-focused strategies and play therapy.
She as a M.A. in Counselling Psychology, Green Stream Foundations of Play Therapy Certification, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Certification, Neurological Approaches for Self-Regulation, Level 3 American Sign Language, Accelerated REsolution Trauma Therapy, EMDR in Training.
She is currently Enrolled In: Doctor of Psychology program.
