My Story

Brittany is a non-Indigenous ally. She is a registered psychologist currently pursuing her doctoral degree in clinical psychology. Brittany has been working with Indigenous clients for the past thirteen years, and she has provided mental health counselling to isolated northern First Nation communities in Alberta and First Nation communities in southern Alberta. Brittany draws from an integrative approach to counselling and works from a client-centered approach grounded in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy.

Brittany has experience working in schools and health centres and has provided counselling to all ages. Brittany specializes in working with young adults and youth. Brittany utilizes numerous approaches to counselling and meets the client where they are. She loves working with children, youth, and young adults and has recently started working with elders and clients diagnosed with FASD.

Background/Counselling Framework Utilized: I utilize an eclectic approach to counselling. I work with clients from a client-centered perspective, creating a safe and non-judgmental environment. Depending on the client’s needs, I use cognitive behavioral strategies, solution-focused strategies, and play therapy.

Certifications include: An M.A. in Counselling Psychology, Green Stream Foundations of Play Therapy Certification, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy Certification, Neurological Approaches for Self-Regulation, Level 3 American Sign Language, Accelerated Resolution Trauma Therapy, and EMDR certification.
