My Story

I am an Indigenous counsellor with a Masters of Counselling degree from City University of Seattle. I have been in the human services field for over 24 years, supporting Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, including 2SLGBTQIA+ and other culturally diverse populations. I have experience as a Cultural Connector and Circle Keeper, including facilitating cultural competence training, cultural sensitivity, and Practice as Ceremony (Bent Arrow Traditional Healing Society). I have experience working with children, youth, adults, and families focusing on intergenerational trauma, grief and loss, parenting, substance use and multiple forms of abuse (sexual, family/partner violence).

It can be difficult to seek help when you are facing challenges in life, that is why it is important to find someone you will feel comfortable with. I am honored every day to walk alongside people on their healing journey. It is my goal to create a safe and comfortable environment to offer support to you, whether it is your first time counselling or you are continuing your personal journey. I work with a cultural lens honoring the Medicine Wheel caring for the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of self. I am trained in EMDR, solution focused therapy, and Attachment theory (psychodynamic perspective).

Qualifications and training: I have an undergrad degree in Child and Youth Care, EMDR, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma informed care, Traditional Parenting (Janet Fox). I have experience as a cultural connector and supervisor of Indigenous cultural support services programs.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGMENT

We recognize that the land on which we gather is part of Turtle Island, situated within the territories of Treaties Four, Six, Seven, and Eight. This land has long been a sacred gathering place for many nations, including the Blackfoot Confederacy—Kainai, Piikani, and Siksika—alongside the Cree, Dene, Saulteaux, Nakota Sioux, Stoney-Nakoda, Tsuu T'ina Nation, and the Métis Peoples who call this region home. The deep connection that the First Peoples have to this land teaches us our shared responsibility to protect and honor Mother Earth. Through this acknowledgment, we pay tribute to the ancestors, the children, and all those who rest here, as well as the missing and murdered Indigenous women and men. We recognize the ongoing journey of collective healing for all of humanity. We are reminded that all treaty people have a duty to one another. We stand in solidarity with those beside us, those forgotten, and those lost. We connect with Mother Earth for healing, guidance, and the teachings she offers.
